1. What is Coronavirus? Covid-19, is a contagious illness of the respiratory system caused by infection with a new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. Many have become infected by close friends, family, colleagues and others as they assumed that their symptoms were only related to reoccurring seasonal allergies.

2. What is the difference between symptoms of seasonal allergies and Coronavirus? COVID-19 and seasonal allergies share many symptoms, but there are key differences between them. Symptoms common in both include coughing, sore throat, fatigue, headache, stuffy or runny nose and, a very tricky one, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. Testing may be needed to determine whether true Coronavirus is present. Symptoms more common in COVID-19, that do not usually accompany seasonal allergies, include fever and chills, muscle and body aches, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea and new loss of taste and smell.

3. When should you quarantine? You should quarantine if you feel that you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19. Deciding to quarantine does not mean that you have COVID-19, only that you may have been exposed. As a protective and preventive measure, an effective quarantine helps to prevent you from exposing others.

4. What is the difference between quarantining and isolation? Isolation means that you have been infected with and are positive for COVID-19. Until a negative COVID-19 test result is achieved, you should avoid contact with others. Confirm the diagnosis with appropriate testing.

5. How do I effectively quarantine? To effectively quarantine, you should stay home for 14 days after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19. Watch for a fever of 100.4 degrees Farrenheit or higher. Be sure to take note of a cough, shortness of breath or other COVID-19 symptoms. If possible, avoid contact with others, especially those who are at higher risk for contracting COVID-19.

6. How can I protect myself, family and those in my circle from getting COVID-19? There are 3 easy steps we all can take to slow the spread of the Coronavirus. Avoid crowds as often as possible. The more often we are in contact with groups of people, the more likely we can be exposed to COVID-19. If you have to be around others, who do not live with you, practice moving around in a way that allows you to stand or sit 6 feet, or 2 arms lengths away from them. Although, this next suggestion has often sparked controversial conversation, wear a mask. This will serve to protect your airway which is the primary entryway for the virus to enter your system. If, for any reason, you find that wearing the mask is causing you respiratory discomfort, shortness of breath or anxiety; contact your doctor, local clinic, or other medical resource. This may be an indication of an underlying health problem not related to COVID-19.
